Questions?
How is the Batik pattern made?
The traditional Indonesian Batik process involves applying hot wax to the areas that should resist dye, and then dipping the fabric into dye. Once colour has transferred, the wax is boiled or ironed out to reveal the full pattern. This process is done entirely by hand, and repeated for more layered and multicoloured designs.
Can you tell me more about the artisans who you partnered with for the Batik process?
These artisans are very talented people dedicated to preserving and innovating traditional batik designs. Their work exemplifies the meticulous craftsmanship in each piece.
Are Matheson Batik Linens colorfast?
Our traditional, Batik Linens are made from high quality natural fibres & natural dye. This results in them being quite colourfast, but some fading or softening is normal over time. To help maintain colour, always wash batik linens in cold water, and avoid harsh detergents or bleach.
