Pepper Mill and Salt Cellar
FREE Shipping to Canada and the Continental USA
Enhance every dish with freshly cracked pepper and easy-access salt seasoning. This beautifully designed Matheson set includes a lacquered oak pepper mill and a coordinating marble salt cellar — perfect for elevating everyday cooking.
The pepper mill features a shaftless CrushGrind mechanism for smooth, consistent grinding. A funnel-style top with a machined aluminum stopper allows for easy refilling, while a base dial lets you adjust the grind from fine to coarse.
Designed to pair perfectly, the mill nests neatly on the salt cellar’s lid, keeping your counter organized and your seasonings within reach.
You don't need to clean the Matheson Pepper Mill & Salt Cellar often, but when you do: Wipe the exterior with a damp cloth. Turn it upside down and grind it empty to clear out any leftover pepper dust. Brush out the inside with a small brush. Don't use water, mills don’t like moisture! For the marble salt cellar, wash with a mild soap and water and let dry completely before re-filling. Find more care tips here.

Why We Made It
A design object that lives outside the drawer.
Salt and pepper mills are among the few tools that live outside the drawer. They sit on countertops, dining tables, and open shelving. This visibility inspired us to make something beautifully proportioned. In the end it grinds cleanly, feels balanced, and invites interaction. - Kei & Brian

Questions?
How do I fill the Pepper Mill?
To fill the pepper mill, remove the plug from the top and carefully pour the peppercorns into the funnel built into the mill. The pepper mill will hold approximately 1/4 cup of peppercorns and the salt cellar will hold approximately 1/2 cup of coarse salt.
How do I adjust the grind size?
To adjust the grind size, ensure the top plug is in tight and turn the pepper mill upside down locating the grey dial underneath. Turning the grey dial clockwise will tighten the tension for a smaller grind. For a coarser grind, loosen the dial by turning it counterclockwise. Take care not to over-tighten.
How to safely clean the pepper mill & salt cellar?
You don't need to clean a pepper mill often, but when you do: Wipe the exterior with a damp cloth. Turn it upside down and grind it empty to clear out any leftover pepper dust. Brush out the inside with a small brush. Don't use water, mills don’t like moisture! For the marble salt cellar, wash with a mild soap and water and let dry completely before re-filling.
Does fresh-ground pepper really taste better?
Absolutely yes! Fresh-ground pepper is more aromatic and spicier. You can also adjust it in grind size, so you have lots of options, too. For example, a fine grind for soups, coarse grind for steaks, etc.
What kind of peppercorns should I use?
We recommend sticking with whole, high-quality black peppercorns for their classic, strong and spicy flavour. Be cautious of pink or mixed peppercorns as the softer kernels and uneven textures can cause pepper mills to jam.
