Grill Press Care

Grill Press Care

Every kitchen tool should elevate your everyday cooking. We built the Matheson Grill Press with this in mind.

First Use

Your Matheson Grill Press can be prepped to use with a light rinse to remove any packaging fibres and comes pre-seasoned ready to use.

Cooking

The Grill Press can be used on various cooking surfaces, but we recommend pairing it with the Matheson 10" Cast Iron Pan. Cooking with steady, even heat will help food crust evenly. Be sure to place food between the Press and the pan to avoid scratching the surface. Do not use the Grill Press in microwave ovens.

Finish and Seasoning

The Grill Press features a black enamel finish with a three-layer coating that helps prevent rust and allows a patina (or “seasoning”) to develop over time. This patina forms naturally from oils, fats, and sugars baking onto the surface. As it develops, less oil will be needed for cooking.

Regular use helps maintain the seasoning. Occasional care is required to preserve the finish and ensure optimal performance.

Washing

Clean the Grill Press while it's still warm (not hot) to help prevent food from sticking. Do not wash it while piping hot to avoid thermal shock. Hand wash with hot, soapy water using a nylon bristle scrubber or sponge. Avoid steel wool and abrasive cleaners to preserve the enamel and seasoning.

Drying

After washing, towel dry the Grill Press thoroughly. Any leftover oil will transfer to the towel. Ensure the Press is completely dry before storing to prevent rusting.

Warranty

Matheson guarantees its products against manufacturing defects and shipping damage for 30 days after delivery. If you notice any issues, please contact us immediately.

Issues caused by regular wear or misuse, including not following care instructions, may not be covered. You can view our full return policy here.
